Registered Voters, Make Your Voice Heard
Mark a ballot for your favorite candidates in today's general election. This Election Day is important because voters will choose local, state, and national officials, including the forty-third president.
All our nation's presidents will be featured in a shimmering exhibition of beaded portraits by artist Liza Lou called Star-Spangled Presidents, opening at the Renwick Gallery on November 18th. Since Lou will be on a tight schedule to create the newest portrait of the forty-third president, an empty gold, beaded frame will hold the portrait's place until it is completed.
This beaded portrait depicts the sixteenth president, Abraham Lincoln (18091865), beloved for his opposition to slavery's expansion and his leadership during the Civil War (18611865).
