Ghosts of a Chance

Searching for final clues in front of Georgia Stele by Jesús Moroles

Choose from two innovative, multimedia scavenger hunts that will present the collections of the American Art Museum in a completely new way! Send text messages, decipher codes, follow treasure maps, uncover hidden objects, and answer questions in order to complete three quests before time runs out! In Ghosts of a Chance, two young curators have been possessed by spirits and need your help; follow the ghostly trail to save them and the museum from mayhem. In Return of the Spirits, the restless ghosts are back and have inhabited three different artworks; players must solve the clues to find the artworks and put the spirits to rest. You will need a text messaging-enabled cell phone, comfortable shoes, plenty of energy, and a sense of adventure!

Ghosts of a Chance and Return of the Spirits are presented on a monthly basis (view our online calendar for upcoming dates). The games are suitable for ages 12 and over (grown-ups included) and each takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. Please note that you only need one cellular phone per group, and that the text-messaging element for the games will not work on a pre-paid phone.

Groups of 10 or more can schedule a pre-arranged play date of either game. To schedule an appointment, contact Georgina Goodlander at GoodlanderG[at]si.edu or (202) 633-8532 at least seven days in advance. Happy hunting!
