Want to see images of artworks in the SAAM collection? There are more than 40,000 of them, so browsing can be overwhelming. Why not start with our recent online exhibition, Highlights from the Smithsonian American Art Museum? This series of thematic shows is based on five major aspects of the museum's permanent collection, including African American Masters, The Land through a Lens, Graphic Masters, Masters of Their Craft, and Calico and Chintz.

If you'd like to see some of these artworks in person, the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art in Atlanta, Georgia, is hosting African American Masters through May 13, 2005.

Check out our online shop for full-color books featuring artworks from African American Masters, The Land through a Lens, Graphic Masters, and Masters of Their Craft.
