SAAM Docent Program

A docent discusses contemporary art with first graders.

A docent discusses contemporary art with first graders.

Docents at the Smithsonian American Art Museum conduct weekday and weekend museum visits, community outreach presentations, and real-time videoconference tours. They facilitate an engaging experience and create a dialogue with viewers to deepen their understanding of American art, history, craft, and culture. Whether guiding visitors through a special exhibition at the Renwick Gallery, touring groups through the Smithsonian American Art Museum, or introducing our collection to schools nationwide through a real-time videoconference tour, our docents are knowledgeable and gracious representatives of the museum who bring artworks to life.
