Panoramas: The North American Landscape in Art

Panoramas

The Smithsonian American Art Museum, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, collaborated with museums from Canada and Mexico to create the first virtual art exhibition sponsored by the United States, Canadian, and Mexican governments.

Panoramas: The North American Landscape in Art celebrates the diverse landscapes of North America and compares the cultural, social, and art historical outlooks of all three countries in English, French, and Spanish.

The Canadian Heritage Information Network coordinated this initiative with support from the Department of Canadian Heritage. The Canadian Museum of Civilization in Hull, Quebec, and the Winnipeg Art Gallery in Winnipeg, Manitoba, provided Canadian content. The Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, located in Mexico City, provided material with support from Mexico's National Council for Arts and Culture.

Visitors to this rich site can explore more than 300 artworks as well as multimedia features and educational activities designed to promote cultural exchange and understanding.
