In conjunction with the exhibition RECOGNIZE! Hip Hop and Contemporary Portraiture, the Portrait Gallery presents an evening with world-renowned poet and educator Nikki Giovanni. In an interview conducted by playwright Jennifer L. Nelson, Giovanni will examine her life and work as a poet, her observations on hip hop culture, and her recently published books, Hip Hop Speaks to Children and Lincoln and Douglass.
