Publications Office
The Publications Office staff produces books and catalogues about the Museum's collections and exhibitions. We sometimes call them our ambassadors; we send them to libraries and museums so people who may not be able to visit us often can learn about the art in our galleries and the artists who made them. We hope that you'll find books that interest you either in the museum shops at American Art and the Renwick Gallery or in our online store, where we carry books on American art and art history, several children's titles, posters, and gift items. If you need help placing a new order or tracking an existing order, contact us at pubord[at]si.edu.
The Publications staff also contributes to exhibition text, brochures, the Museum's scholarly journal, and our web site. We produce the museum's critically acclaimed journal, American Art. The magazine combines the best scholarship in the field with outstanding color reproductions in a beautifully designed journal, co-published with the University of Chicago Press. To subscribe to the print or online version, visit their site at www.journals.uchicago.edu/AmArt.
